My first blog post...kinda nervous low-key.
Hey there!
I'm Sarah Thayer, 19 years young and studying at the University of Fairbanks for a degree in Justice. I live in Eagle River but reside in Fairbanks during the school year. I have a Bichon Frise named Noodle, she loves to be outside and I like to take her on hikes during the summer. I took her on a hike during the winter and I don't think she's forgiven me for it yet...My goals for the future consist of working in some form of law enforcement. Over this past summer I interned at a U.S. Federal Probation office and learned more about my intended career. My goal has been to become a probation officer (po) but after spending some time in the office I've learned there's a lot more court involved that I thought, at least federally speaking. My father was also a PO but he was at state level, so I don't think he had as much time in court as the federal officers. I'm not sure how much I love the idea of going to court on a daily so I've recently been thinking about going for a more field based position. I feel like a K-9 officer would be pretty cool but that takes a fair amount of work to qualify for and I'm not sure if that's something I want to take on yet.
I enjoy listening music at all times of the day, driving, studying, working, running, name it and I'm listening to music. I've played the violin and guitar in the past and I've messed around on the drums and piano but I've never put enough effort in to really learn them. I personally don't enjoy the idea of going to concerts, I'm sure they're fun. My boyfriend enjoys concerts. Not me though, I'm good. I like to play music out loud while I'm doing things like homework or house chores. Below is a music video that I just found called "Small Town Shit" by Chase Matthews. I think it's cool... I mostly like the actual video rather than the song.

"I got a hillbilly habit that I can't kick". I loved that line. The video is great - looks like Michigan.

DeleteMy dog angel loves running around. My parents moved to the family farm with my dad's uncle, and she loves the open space. All three of my dogs do. My lab, gunner, was overweight (120lbs) when we lived in Florida since it was too hot to be outside for long period of time. However, since my parents moved to the farm, he lost a lot of weight (he's about 80-ishlbs now) and they had to up his food so he wouldn't become underweight.
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah! I loved reading your post. Your future career as a K-9 officer sounds so interesting and such a fun way to incorporate your love for dogs!
